"A veggie and vegan paradise, this little deli-restaurant is strictly meat-free. Our personal favourite is the house Goji burger; a mushroom burger loaded with halloumi, salad and sweet potato wedges. There’s a sumptuous selection of cakes and little bits in the deli and even a breakfast menu, should you want to swing by on the way to work."

"Their breakfast/brunch menu is completely unique, with fresh fruit chia puddings, banana, blueberry and almond loaves, rissoles, frittatas and crumpets. Not ideal if you’re after a bit of bacon, but having tried their Tofu Nourish Bowl on their lunch menu, I can vouch for the food here. OPENING HOURS: Breakfast/brunch is served until 12pm"

"The Botanist is a great place to both eat and drink in York as it has such an extensive cocktail menu, as well as great foodie options, too. I’ve been to The Botanist on several different occasions, both with Matt, my friends and old work colleagues for our Christmas party last year and it’s delivered beyond my expectations every single time. "Humpit Hummus was never really a place I’d thought of eating at until I was invited to review it last year. I’m so pleased that I did give it a chance though, as it’s one of the best vegan places in York!. The premise of Humpit is almost like a ridiculously healthy kebab; you choose from a selection of dishes including pitas and salad bowls and then add all the fresh ingredients alongside your hummus!"

"Newcomer Barleys is causing a storm down Newland Avenue – and for good reason!. Barleys is 100% vegan and offers a great range of deli style products as well as a range of fantastic sandwiches – my personal favourite is the chicken caesar wrap. Barleys has only been open for a couple of weeks now and I’ve visited more times than I care to admit."
