10 of the best budget restaurants in Harrogate, North Yorkshire
"San Carlo is definitely one of the most luxurious spots to eat out in Leeds – this huge, classy dining room on South Parade is perfect for special occasions. The menu is as authentic as it gets, with recipes from the man the venue is named after used still, whether it’s Filetto al Pepe Verde, Lobster Risotto or their classic pizzas – whatever you choose, it’d be rude not to couple it with one of their handpicked Italian wines. San Carlo, 6-7 South Parade, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 5QX."

Our continued commitment to fresh, local produce and sustainable seafood is apparent in our regionally inspired dishes. Our focus is seafood prepared with expertise but without pretention."
"Head to The Drum & Monkey in Harrogate and taste some of the best seafood in Yorkshire. Share some oysters with friends, indulge in a succulent Lobster Thermidor or opt for a tempting dish from the restaurant’s a la carte menu. The eatery also offers a superb selection of desserts and a varied wine list."
"Located on King’s Road in the heart of Harrogate, Gianni’s Brio opposite the Harrogate Convention Centre has been serving up authentic, Italian cuisine for all the family since 1983. It’s a popular favourite in the town, that’s for sure, and its family-friendly ethos ensures a warm welcome. "If you’ve not had your fill of cheese samples on your visit to the famous Wensleydale Creamery, then a stop at The Wensleydale Heifer on your way back to your holiday accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales is a must!. With a mouth-watering menu that changes to suit the seasons, an exceptional Sunday lunch and special dishes to celebrate annual events (not to mention their famous fish and chips), a visit to the Heifer will leave you spoilt for choice and a stunning setting in which to enjoy your meal. What’s more, they offer a wide range of vegetarian and vegan choices, so there really is something for everyone to enjoy at this outstanding venue."
"The cheerful Wensleydale Heifer is an attractive 17th-century inn, situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and surrounded by pretty countryside. There are 13 rooms, nine with traditional décor in the original building and four themed rooms in a newer annexe across the courtyard. The latter may not be to everyone’s taste but they are nothing if not original: Chocolate Heaven has a cherub-heavy mural above the bath, the James Herriot comes with a box set of All Creatures Great and Small, and Night At the Movies, has black walls, a vaulted beamed ceiling and silver furniture."
"Situated in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park, is probably the finest fish restaurant in the Dales, The Wensleydale Heifer. Located in West Witton, around a 20 minute drive through some spectacular scenery from Sun Hill, The Heifer is one of our favourite places to eat. Boasting a menu full of luxury classics such as steak and lobster, through to their famous Fish and Chips, posh sandwiches and light bite tapas for lunch - there’s something for everyone whether they prefer fine dining or a casual meal."
"Kerala Restaurant is highly reputed for the tasty and authentic South Indian cuisine that they serve to all their customers and guests. Welcoming all individuals and groups even people with special dietary requirements, they serve a wide variety of dishes that would certainly whet your appetite and fit the needs and preferences that you have. They have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes so better check their menu and order the one that is tempting your palate."
"Wild caught haddock, cooked in a secret recipe batter and paired with fresh, hot chips fried in beef dripping. If that doesn’t make your mouth water, nothing will. The Skyliner fish and chip shop is a firm favourite with locals."
"29/05/2021: Brought my Nanny for her first meal out after the lockdown at the grand age of 90 years!. What a wonderful experience!. The food was incredible and we were served by Ella who was an absolute delightfull young lady!"
"Knaresborough Castle was once a medieval stronghold, overlooking the River Nidd. When visiting the castle, you can explore on your own or join tours to learn about the king’s chambers, dungeons and the secret underground exit. Knaresborough offers amazing insight into the medieval life and its residents throughout history."
"Walk along the picturesque riverside, or row a boat out under the viaduct’s soaring arches, or simply wind your way through narrow lanes to Knaresborough Castle. Our pit-stop in Knaresborough certainly was the perfect end to the day."

"Hummus fans can now rejoice with the opening of the new branch of the Humpit in Leeds University Union this September. Previously a little-known secret tucked away in the Corn Exchange, you now have access to hummus bowls, soft, pillowy pitta breads and crispy, spicy falafel right on your doorstep. Although it’s little too pricey to reasonably go here for lunch every day, it’s not too bad for the occasional treat."
"If something's worth doing, it's worth doing right – and Humpit do hummus right. Go for a classic bowl of their creamy hummus, served with your choice of toppings (I recommend the spicy salsa) and hunks of fresh pitta bread to mop it all up. Their stuffed pittas are also a great takeaway lunch option if you're passing by the Corn Exchange."
"We loved hummus but couldn't find anywhere to eat it in traditional style, in a bowl with a fresh warm pita on the side to rip & dip. With a load of innocence and passion, a borrowed gazebo and a small fryer from Argos, we set out around the streets and parks of Leeds and people started to fall in love with Humpit."
"Stage Espresso and Brewbar is a brainchild of Martyn and Matt Jakeman, two brothers who wanted to share their love of coffee with the masses. They specialise in single-origin coffee, so everything you order, whether it’s a flat white, a split shot or a cappuccino, will be made with beans from an individual or small group of farms. The venue itself is petite, with just a small amount of seating, but it’s a cosy place to while away the hours – and if you get hungry, you can indulge in fresh sandwiches or cakes from Tarte and Berry."
"Residence 74 is a cool and cosy cafe bar in Cookridge, decked out with exposed brickwork, leafy green plants and attention-grabbing neon signs. It’s the perfect place for a chilled out morning, so grab yourself a wood-fired coffee or a Jeeves & Jericho tea, then sink into their vintage Chesterfield sofa. If you’re staying for a bite to eat, they have all the breakfast classics, from American pancakes to an almighty full English, as well as a delicious selection of hot sandwiches."
