Medieval York
"Clifford’s Tower (also known as York Castle) has been at the heart of York for many centuries now. It’s endured a fair few battles and what remains of the fortified complex that once consisted of prisons, castles and law courts, is now a ruinous castle. You can climb to the top of the tower for a small fee, where you’ll see panoramic views of the Vale of York."
"Situated in the shadow of Clifford’s Tower, York Castle Museum is home to a wealth of exhibits surrounding the rich history of York and wider Great Britain, where historical sights from Georgian gowns to Dick Turpin’s prison cell may be found. Its standout exhibit however is a fully-recreated Victorian street, dubbed Kirkgate after the museum’s founder, complete with horse and cart, costumed guides and cobblestones. Though opening as a museum in 1938, the site on which it stands holds an important place in York’s history."
"Lots of things to do, including learning about the history of the building, which was once a prison – hear what crimes some of its inmates had committed. The best part (in our opinion) is the recreated Victorian Street, Kirkgate – a cobbled street with traditional shops to visit. VISIT THEIR WEBSITE >>"
"Dean’s Park offers fantastic views, a great place to stretch out and enjoy a break during a busy day, as well as soft drink and ice cream refreshments available during summer. You may also want to view nearby York Minster. There is an admission charge for entering this cathedral but it doesn’t cost anything to take in the magnificent exterior!"
"Located on the North side of the Minster, Dean’s Park is a quiet, green oasis offering incredible views of the Gothic Cathedral and the Minster Library. Some ruins of a 12th-century cloister – probably from the Old Palace – are still standing. While it originally was accessible only to members of the church, today it’s open to the public."
"A beautiful place to soak in the sun and enjoy an ice cream cone, Dean’s Park offers beautiful views and plenty of green, open space. Spread out a blanket and enjoy stunning views of the Minster and its Chapter House."

"Right next to Whitby Abbey you will find the Church of Saint Mary, perched on the east cliff overlooking the harbour and the town. The church graveyard was the setting of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, a book which he wrote after staying in the town back in 1890. The seaside town’s ties with Dracula are actually one of the main attractions of Whitby and attract thousands of people every year."
"What better place to peruse contemporary art than a medieval church?. A great stop not only for the exhibitions but also for the church itself, this site is steeped in history and beauty. Boasting York’s tallest steeple, it’s also a great opportunity to snap a few great photos!"
"My stomping ground growing up was East Park with its boating lake, splash boat, and animal education centre. Smaller and also good for children, Pearson Park has a tropical animal house and duck pond, as well as the requisite monuments and ornamental gardens. West Park is good too, if I have to admit it."
"If you are looking for Chinese delivery food in town, your search ends here!. Osbaldwick Chinese is a Chinese restaurant that serves great quality, fresh food made with fresh ingredients and served in generous portions. The food in this restaurant is hot, not because it is freshly made, but because of the level of spiciness."
