See the Best of England: A Three Week Itinerary
"Kirkstall abbey is a well-preserved medieval abbey which has stunning architecture and some great ruins. It is set in parkland and it is the perfect place for a walk. There is also an outdoor deli market where you can try some delicious food, such as a hot spiced wine or a fresh stonebaked pizza, or buy an artisan gift for your friends."
"It’s not just about shops and bars, there’s plenty of beautiful outdoor places in Leeds to photograph. Make sure you take the time to head slightly out of the city centre and visit Kirkstall Abbey to wander around the old ruins and capture amazingly atmospheric photos. Time your visit for a misty day for the best photo opportunities."
"Leeds' most impressive medieval structure is beautiful Kirkstall Abbey, founded in 1152 by Cistercian monks from Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire. These days the city makes good use of it as an atmospheric..."
"What: Another brunch spot from our friends at D&D, this time taking its inspiration from the rooftop bars of New York. There's always a buzz in East 59th whether you come for cocktails in the evening or to feast on eggs and pancakes during the day. If you're looking for a bottomless brunch, this is a particularly great option as you have to pay just £15 per person for an hour and a half of free-flowing drinks."
"This summer will bring another rooftop dining destination to the city in the form of this glamourous Manhattan-style bar and grill opening in Victoria Gate in July. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining from the delicious US-themed menu, along with indulgent brunches, and bask in an authentic taste of New York in the heart of Leeds. Visit: 46 Victoria Street, LS2 7AU"
"Celebrating the best of American dining, this New York themed bar and grill provides a stylish, contemporary space to tuck in to some delicious dishes, and if the weather is permitting, the Manhattan-style rooftop bar is a great spot to enjoy a cocktail or two. Visit: Victoria Gate, Eastgate, LS2 7AU - east59th.co.uk"
"Clifford’s Tower offers stunning views of the city from it’s vantage point on top of a mound. The tower is what’s left of the York Castle which was built by William the Conqueror. 1 mile(s) from the Minster.Tower St, York, North Yorkshire YO1 9SA, United Kingdom"
"You’ll have to pay an entrance price for York Castle, but the reward is the best view you’ll see of the city below. The tower itself is also pretty on the outside for a second bonus photo. View this post on Instagram"
"The striking contrast of Clifford’s Tower with the green bank of grass it sits on is a classic photo to snap of York!. Make the short (but steep) climb to the top and venture inside for a panorama of York."
"You can play all the games you loved as a kid at 'Press Start Gaming Zone' which is based above MEATliquor. The Leeds city centre attraction is kitted up with 16 consoles and arcade machines. You’ll find classics such as the Sega Mega Drive, Nintendo SNES, GameCube, N64 and various generations of PlayStations and Xbox consoles."
"High atop Ilkley Moor, overlooking the pub of the same name, sit the Cow and Calf rocks. The story goes that these incredible rock formations were separated when the giant Rombald stepped on them as he fled an enemy but, in fact, the rocks have formed over the last 320 million years. Now, they draw in hikers and climbers all year round – you can walk in between them before making your way to the top where you can enjoy show-stopping views across the countryside."
"Based in Horsforth, the kids will have a great time meeting the animals in the fields, including rheas, donkeys, geese, alpacas, prairie dogs, hens, goats and even a peacock. The grown ups, on the other hand, will enjoy browsing their shop where you can pick up fresh cuts of beef, chicken, pork, lamb and even their own handmade burgers. If you’re into fishing, make the most of their well stocked ponds which are open 7 days a week for you to grab a catch."
"11/06/2021: I love Lucias having been in York for many years and wanting to try Harrogate for a while. I had booked a table at the end of May when lockdown restrictions had eased. I booked for a birthday for 5 people and requested the flower room, which, on the day I found out I did not get a table in and instead was seated in a different room.In short, the entire visit was appalling unfortunately."

"They’re currently running a reduced menu, but still have loads of different sundaes to tempt you in, from classics like the Banana Split, with strawberry slices, vanilla ice cream, syrup and sprinkles, to the Mango Mania, with Alphonse mango ice cream, fruit pieces and mango syrup."
"Thomas Atkinson, an 18th century English architect, is famous for remaking the Bishopthorpe Palace in York in the Gothic Revival style. Though a rather influential figure of his time, very little is known about Atkinson's private life. His house, located at 20 St. Andrewgate, is one of the sparse evidences of his life in York."
"At Skyreholme near the village of Appletreewick in Wharfedale, Parcevall Hall is a Grade II* listed manor house with 24 acres of stunning landscaped gardens that are perfect for picnics. The gardens are one of the most peaceful places to visit in the Yorkshire Dales."
"Within the tranquil grounds, visitors will find many facets of the garden: woodland walks, formal areas, south facing terraces, a limestone rock garden and a beautiful rose garden."
"Humpit Hummus was never really a place I’d thought of eating at until I was invited to review it last year. I’m so pleased that I did give it a chance though, as it’s one of the best vegan places in York!. The premise of Humpit is almost like a ridiculously healthy kebab; you choose from a selection of dishes including pitas and salad bowls and then add all the fresh ingredients alongside your hummus!"
"Head to Church Street to Humpit, the Hummus and Pita Bear where the menu is totally vegan!. Their menu has three items; salad bowls, hummus bowls and loaded pitas. You can choose your ingredients for the salad bowl, and the hummus bowls and loaded pitas come with chickpeas, pickles, olives, falafel and more."
"Editor's Note: There's no photo available at the time of writing. The Humpit began in 2014 with a dream to create real authentic hummus and to be able to enjoy it with a warm pita. Five years later, the Humpit has established itself in the York community."
"Resident on Coldbath Road, Manna Bakery recently extended its premises to a few doors down from its original location, transforming their grab ‘n go bakery to a lovely cafe. Manna Bakery have the best fresh produce and exciting breakfast menu items – the smell of freshly-baked bread and brownies hits you before you even walk through the door!. They have their own take on a few breakfast classics, and the flavours definitely don’t fall short."
