"Just below Tropical World are the beautiful Canal Gardens which again, despite being in the area many times exploring Roundhay Park I had never noticed before I ran past them during a lockdown run. I came back again a couple of weeks later with my new tripod (best purchase!!!) to photograph them. In Spring the rhododendrons are in full bloom in this peaceful place."

Of course, you can get all your battered favourites to takeaway – their whopping king-sized haddock fillet is a must-try for all fish & chip fiends – but they also do a medley of more refined seafood dishes in the restaurant. Expect plates of crisp tempura tiger prawns, aromatic monkfish curries and smoky seafood grills."

"It is on the eastern side of the centre of Glossop and fringes onto the Conservation Area of Old Glossop. There is a car park at Corn Mill and on-street parking is available nearby. Again, it's not technically a theme park, but with this much going on for free, it deserves a mention."
