Best Fine Dining in Dunnington

"What: Small, unassuming, and tucked away down one of the city’s quieter streets, this incredible restaurant is a must for any visiting (or resident) foodie. Aptly named, Le Cochon Aveugle deals solely in ‘blind’ tasting menus (four or six courses with optional wine pairings), which are modestly-priced given the quality, and make for a wonderfully relaxed and indulgent evening. The interiors are nothing special but the skill of the chefs is, meaning dishes as simple as scallops with butter are exceptional."

Classy starters such as scallops with lovage pasta and caponata or home-smoked ox tongue with kohlrabi remoulade lead on to salted East Coast coley (with fennel and saffron gnocchi) or Yorkshire pig (‘The Whole Hog’ is a perfectly sized plate of trotter, belly and hock served with pommes boulangère and cabbage). Refreshingly, vegetarian options are meat-free takes on the main courses and suggestions for wines to match each dish are a welcome touch."

"The House of the Trembling Madness is a great place to drink in York if you’re into quirky and unusual buildings. The original Trembling Madness is much smaller, quirkier and has a very odd charm to it, whereas the newly refurbished one is much bigger and has a classier vibe to it; it also has a shop downstairs where you can purchase your drinks for a fraction of the price and then take them upstairs to drink in the bar/restaurant!. Whichever one you visit, you’re sure to delight in its weirdness and enjoy wonderfully crafted drinks."

"Located off Newland Avenue resides Zoo Cafe, possibly one Hull’s best kept secrets. Zoo Cafe was one of my favourite eateries even before I became a vegetarian. Zoo Cafe’s menu is colossal and has food perfect for any meal of the day."
