"Yet another establishment found within Micklegate, Partisan is a trendy and independent coffee shop, which transforms into a restaurant in the evening. The menu’s diverse, and changes every week – as a result, it’s difficult to make a solid recommendation on which dish to choose, however, the principles at Partisan are clear – they value seasonality, allow the ingredients to do the talking and provide a relaxed, indulgent experience for diners. They were this year highlighted as one of the best restaurants in York by the Good Food Guide, which described “This distinctive arrival on blossoming Micklegate is principally a daytime café with a rustic ambience."

"Rowntree Park, on the flood plains of the River Ouse, is a myriad of paths and walkways along the river. It was York’s first ever municipal park, presented to the public by sweets company Rowntree & Co to commemorate the 200 members of their staff who died in World War I. If you’re in search of a little exercise during your visit, the park boasts six tennis courts, a skate park, a basketball court, two tennis tables and two bowling greens. "Stonegate Yard is a place that I’ve been eating at ever since I was a young teenager and went out for meals with my friends. It has such a cosy and homey vibe to it and I’ve eaten there many times, both inside and in the heated outdoor patio area. I’d recommend: nachos, gammon and eggs, fish and chips or the steak flatbread."
