10 cosy places for coffee and cake in Leeds
"Fettle is a brilliant find if you’re looking for somewhere to have brunch in Leeds. On the weekend, the Scandinavian-inspired cafe has a special all-day menu that bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch. You’ve got classics like their full English breakfast, but the veggie alternative is arguably even better – you’ll get slices of halloumi or tofu, a free-range egg cooked your way and sourdough toast, served with beautifully seasoned wilted spinach, mixed beans, confit tomatoes and a flat mushroom."

"At Brew & Brownie “we are inspired by the seasons, our countryside upbringing, our urban adulthood, the food we craved as children, to the tastes we developed as we grew. We aim to bring this vision to life at our cafe and coffee house in the centre of York. We have spent many hours researching and discovering some of Yorkshire’s best produce, such as Raydale Preserves based in the sleepy village of Stalling Busk, Johnson’s free range eggs, Bishy Road’s M & K butchers, Wilson’s Butchers based in Huntington, not to mention Haxby Bakehouse’s amazing bread!"
"Brew and Brownie fans will happily queue to sit in and enjoy the cracking coffee and delicious pancake stacks, but as it’s just across the road from the entrance to York Museum Gardens, why not order something to take away and enjoy in the Yorkshire sunshine?. Their sister cafe, Brew & Brownie Bakeshop, is just as lovely and they do takeaway salads, sandwiches and cakes too. Brew and Brownie, 5 Museum St, York YO1 7DT"

Boasting a rich menu filled with Middle Eastern delicacies, you’ll be spoilt for choice if you want to try something new. "Located down on Kirkgate, Doghouse is the second venture from the owners of 212 Cafe and Bar, but this time they’re taking the music from the DJ booth and turning it into a full-blown record store. On offer here is three floors of stripped back, vintage-style decor where families can kick back on old Chesterfield sofas. Spend the day playing a retro Super Nintendo console, working your way through the tempting bar snacks on offer (pork pies with piccalilli, heck yes) and browsing Paula’s Record Store on the third floor."
"06/07/2021: We ordered a donner kebab and a chicken kebab, they were very expensive for a takeaway and were the worst kebabs we have had. We also had to wait 10 minutes for them (fast food?).The donner was the saltiest thing I have ever tasted; I only had one fork full and could not continue. The chicken kebab was dried out. Both were served on a weird pancake sort of thing. The garlic sauce was like a thick sour cream. The only thing that stopped me taking them back was the fact that the woman serving was abrupt and scary!"
