Many of the reviews of this place say that it is a ‘MUST-visit’ and 'If you’re looking for unusual, fun, esoteric and eclectic then this is your place.’ With its unusual name, many people are drawn to this place by its pure aesthetic alone, with its famous 900 year old wall, the House of The Trembling Madness resides in the first Norman building built in York, the wall is all that remains of its original structure. The original Trembling Madness is much smaller, quirkier and has a very odd charm to it, whereas the newly refurbished one is much bigger and has a classier vibe to it; it also has a shop downstairs where you can purchase your drinks for a fraction of the price and then take them upstairs to drink in the bar/restaurant!. Whichever one you visit, you’re sure to delight in its weirdness and enjoy wonderfully crafted drinks."

It is designed to resemble a medieval ale house with stuffed animals sprawn across the walls and Belgian beers on tap. "Humpit Hummus was never really a place I’d thought of eating at until I was invited to review it last year. I’m so pleased that I did give it a chance though, as it’s one of the best vegan places in York!. The premise of Humpit is almost like a ridiculously healthy kebab; you choose from a selection of dishes including pitas and salad bowls and then add all the fresh ingredients alongside your hummus!"
